Due diligence and client focused support provided

Air Pollution Services was commissioned to undertake the air quality assessment in support of the EPR permit application for the energy centre of Croydon University Hospital.

Additionally, APS was commissioned to manage the permit application, including preparation of all documentation, submission and management of the application.

Project Outline

An environmental permit was required from the Environment Agency (EA) for two new Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant (i.e. generators) being installed in the energy plant to provide power and heat to the hospital.

Due to the size of the plant, they were classed as stationary Medium Combustion Plant (MCP) and a Specified Generator (SG), following the Environmental Permitting Regulations (EPR).

This type of permit requires an air quality assessment to demonstrate the impacts will be insignificant.

Our Services

  • Air Pollution Services acted as the air quality consultants for the permit application.
  • Air Pollution Services acted as the permitting consultants.

Our Role

Our air quality assessment followed the methodology and scope defined by the EA. The impacts of pollutant emissions from the plant upon sensitive locations in the local area were assessed, including nearby residential properties and hospital buildings. The assessment determined that there would be insignificant impacts.

The assessment along with various other permit application documents were submitted to the EA and managed by APS to ensure the application process progressed smoothly.

Our Value

  • Smooth, low-cost permit management.
  • Robust detailed air quality assessment provision.
  • Preparation of supplementary permit documentation and application advise.
